PSOne LCD Hack
This hack should provide you with enough info on how to connect a genuine Sony PSOne LCD to any PAL RGB device (eg. A Speccy).
First up you need to get a genuine Sony PSOne LCD. They're not made any more, but you can pick them up quite cheaply from auction sites like ebay. Your LCD should look something like this:

Next you'll need to take the damn thing apart. Here's all the screws you should need to remove:

Once you've taken the screws out, you should be faced with something like this:

Below is the connection board that you can solder your RGB and other signals to:

| RGB-In & RGB Out |
|
RED = Analog Red. GREEN = Analog Green. BLUE = Analog Blue. CYAN = 5v Sense - Must be connected to 5v for display to become active. BLACK = Ground/0v. YELLOW = Composite Sync MAGENTA = Audio Left ORANGE = Audio Right |
| AV-In |
|
BLACK = Ground. YELLOW = Composite Video. RED = Audio Right. WHITE = Audio Left. |
Once you've connected all the wires up and got it working, you should get an image like this (click image for larger version):
You can see the quality of the image close up here. It appears the LCD does a bit of scaling on the horizontal:
The scaling can make somethings look slightly odd. Here's Protracker 3 so you can see what I mean:
Most things look good on it though. The Digitial Reality intro to the Doom Pre-Release. Nice.
Last on the list of pics is K3L's part from First Associations.
As a minor note, we've found that if you can't supply the screen with 5v easily (for the 5v sense), simply connecting a wire from the 7.5v power supply input to the 5v sense pin appears to work fine too.
This should be all the information most hardware hackers should need to hook their PSOne LCD up to most RGB devices. If you have any questions, chuck us an email.
